End of this Photo Series. Why not ride another trail?
As always, be kind to the neighborhood.
Make a right onto terra not-so-firma but certainly finer to begin the taxing but manageable ascent up Kenter Fire Road
For an exceptionally easy-to-reach trail, Kenter Fire Road offers great views of the Santa Monicas and the LA basin. Looking west, Westridge trail and the old Nike missile site are clearly visible.
Its hard to get lost on this trail. On the way up, if you keep heading uphill, you'll be okay.
I chose to make a right at the section major intersection. This was a steeper climb and put me onto a short singletrack section that ended in a very narrow "land-bridge" and then very steep drop back onto the main fireroad. I'd suggest bearing left and staying on the main fire road here.
This was the land bridge I alluded to earlier that I would recommend avoiding by staying on the main Kenter fire road.
Don't go left here onto the Whoop De Doo trail. Stick with the uphill, get to the top, and then enjoy the Whoop De Doos as a gentle downhill.
Stay on the Kenter Fire Road and keep climbing passed the upcoming intersection.
Stay on the Kenter Fire Road and keep climbing passed the intersection. After a little more climbing you will be rewarded with great views and then a nice downhill to the Whoop De Doos.
I wondered a bit further past the water tower to check out the views. A quarter mile or so past the tower one gets great views west, north, east, and southeast. The Nike missile site is visible in the next shot.
I took this singletrack offshoot to get a southwesterly view and then decided to take it south back to the fire road. MISTAKE. The trail is largely unrideable, as evidenced by my downed bicycle in an upcoming picture. Meander out for the view but then return to Kenter fire road for the downhill to the Whoop De Doos.
